When do you need an ATA?
An ATA, or Analog Telephone Adapter, is an interface device installed
between a regular analog telephone and a IP network. It contains
the CODECS that digitize and decode voice, a network interface
card, and circuitry to handle signaling. ATAs are also used to
provide VOIP phone service to single line telephones.
What is clipping?
The term clipping refers to momentary losses in the VoIP voice
signal due to packet loss on the network or excessive latency
that causes packets to arrive out of sequence.
