When do you need an ATA?
An ATA, or Analog Telephone Adapter, is an interface device installed
between a regular analog telephone and a IP network. It contains
the CODECS that digitize and decode voice, a network interface
card, and circuitry to handle signaling. ATAs are also used to
provide VOIP phone service to single line telephones.
Why use hosted PBX service?
Hosted PBX, sometimes called "IP Centrex", is a VoIP
service that is provided by a third party that manages the PBX
function and connection to the public telephone system. Hosted
PBX works especially well for small companies and virtual companies,
ones where employees are in diverse locations but need to function
as a single company.
